“Seven times a day do I praise thee because of thy righteous judgments.” Psalm 119:164
How often do you praise the Lord? Sometimes it is not an easy task! It can be difficult to see God’s goodness when we focus on our pain, sickness, family struggles, financial burdens, and the tragedy all around us. Our praises are a sacrifice to God, according to Hebrews 13:15. We must be intentional in our practice of praise. David was not without challenges and yet he claimed to praise God seven times a day: Not because of his circumstances, but because of God’s goodness. Can you imagine the change in your mindset if you praised God seven times a day? Let’s choose to praise Him because He is enough and worthy of all praise!
1st Praise of the Day: When I wake up, I will praise Him! – Thank You for another day to live for You, Lord Jesus. I choose to rejoice and be happy today. “This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” (Psalm 118:24)
2nd Praise of the Day: Although I don’t always like what I see in the mirror, I will praise Him! – Thank You Lord for making me uniquely Yours. I praise You for choosing me. “I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.” (Psalm 139:14)
3rd Praise of the Day: As I proceed to work on the tasks of the day, I will praise Him! – I praise You, Lord Jesus for giving me the strength and the wisdom to accomplish the work that You have called me to do this day. I know that when I am weak, then I am strong in You. My strength comes from You, and I thank You! (2 Corinthians 12:10) “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” (Philippians 4:13)
4th Praise of the Day: The tasks have mounted but my friends have supported me, so I will praise Him! Thank You, Father, for placing dear, sweet people in my life that have encouraged and even given me sound advice today. What a blessing they have been! “Ointment and perfume rejoice the heart: so doth the sweetness of a man's friend by hearty counsel.” (Proverbs 27:9)
5th Praise of the Day: The day has slowed, and family time has arrived, and I will praise Him! Dear Lord Jesus, I thank You for my dear family and am grateful that You have provided over and above all that we have needed. Lord, You are our Great Provider! I praise You! “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19)
6th Praise of the Day: As I reflect on today and consider the tasks of tomorrow, I will praise Him! Thank You, Lord Jesus, for the accomplishments (list them) of today, but I have so much more to do tomorrow. I find confidence and hope in You for tomorrow because You met the needs that I had today. I’m grateful You care about all my activities and needs. I release all my anxiety and fears and trust You to meet my needs because I am seeking You first. “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.” (Matthew 6:33-34)
7th Praise of the Day: I welcome my pillow as it’s time for sleep, and I will praise Him! O, Lord, thank You for a time to rest and re-energize my physical, spiritual, and emotional being. I praise You for always being with me. I find peace and comfort in knowing that the angels are around me, and that You give Your beloved sleep. I rest in Your goodness and praise You! “…for so he giveth his beloved sleep.” (Psalm 127:2b)
Making a practice of praising the Lord seven times a day will develop a more intimate relationship with Him. Praise Him in the good times! Praise Him in the bad times! Praise Him during uncertain times! If God does nothing else for us, He has already done enough and is praiseworthy.
